Cingular Wireless and Concourse Communications Announce a WiFi Roaming Agreement
Cingular WiFi Subscribers Can Now Access the Internet in Major, North American Airports Served By Concourse Communications
NEW ORLEANS, LA, MARCH 14, 2005 –
New Orleans March 14, 2005: Cingular Wireless, the largest wireless carrier in the U.S., and Concourse Communications Group announced that they have signed a WiFi Roaming Agreement which will enable Cingular WiFi subscribers to access the Internet over Concourse’s airport networks. Currently these airports include: JFK, LaGuardia, Newark Liberty, Minneapolis-St Paul, Detroit, Nashville, and later this year Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway.
"This agreement is truly a win-win-win," said Joe Beatty, President of Concourse Communications. "We benefit from the increased volume of users, Cingular benefits from adding these major airports to its WiFi footprint, and most importantly, Cingular subscribers win by being able to communicate more conveniently." This represents the ninth such Roaming Agreement Concourse has announced. By actively seeking roaming agreements, Concourse welcomes the subscribers of many wireless carriers and thereby fulfills its mission of being a neutral-host operator of public WiFi networks at key transportation hubs.
"We’re complementing our national EDGE high-speed data network by offering fixed broadband connections in high-traffic areas through WiFi roaming agreements with companies like Concourse, " said Abhi Ingle, executive director for Cingular’s Business Markets Group.
Including the areas covered by Concourse, Cingular now offers its customers access to more than 4,000 hot spots across the country.
