Concourse Communications Continues to Experience Double-digit Growth in Wi-Fi Usage

APRIL 20, 2004 CHICAGO, IL – Concourse Communications today reported that it continues to experience double-digit usage growth in its airport WiFi networks. During the first quarter, monthly growth rates in user sessions were over 35%. The most rapid usage increase is in Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, which went into service in January.

"Detroit has about the same passenger volume as our other Midwest airport, Minneapolis/St Paul International, where daily sessions are running well ahead of our projections", said Joseph Beatty, CEO of Concourse. "The Minneapolis system has been in service for over two years and in March had over 5,000 user sessions. We fully expect Detroit Metro to post that kind of number in a few more months as awareness grows." Usage at LaGuardia is solid and Newark Liberty International Airport is off to a strong start having just gone into service last month.

"The broad adoption of Wi-Fi enabled laptops and the skyrocketing use of wireless Internet at airports reflects the growing popularity of Wi-Fi, which has become a fundamental part of everyday life for many travelers," said Karen Regis, director of marketing programs for Intel’s Mobile Platforms Group. "As a participant in Intel’s wireless verification program, Concourse Communications has tested its WiFi service for compatibility with Intel® Centrino(tm) mobile technology, further enhancing the ‘unwired’ experience for its users."
