Wireless (WiFi) Internet Access Has Arrived at Nashville International Airport
NASHVILLE, TN, OCTOBER 27, 2004 –
WiFi has officially arrived at the Nashville International Airport ("BNA")!
On Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority’s ("MNAA") Board of Commissioners will ceremoniously "boot-up" the celebratory service at their monthly Board meeting, making BNA the 19th of the top 50 airports in the US to offer high-speed, wireless Internet access to passengers and tenants throughout the terminal facility. The wireless services will be available from a network designed, built and operated by Chicago-based Concourse Communications and established upon the popular 802.11b/g standard known as WiFi.
The public will be able to access the service by signing up with a credit card for a daily rate of $6.95. Many travelers will also be able to get access by using their existing WiFi subscriptions as a result of roaming agreements Concourse has with several of the large, national WiFi Service Providers. Airport tenants will also be able to use the Wireless Network to support their operations and enhance their services to their customers.
"Nashville International Airport has a well-articulated Mission Statement which embraces several core values that endeavor to make the airport a key transportation and business hub for Middle Tennessee," said Joe Beatty, CEO of Concourse Communications. "We believe this exciting technology will be a key ingredient in helping BNA achieve their Mission."
Those familiar volunteers, affectionately known as the Flying Aces, all bedecked in their ruby blazers, will be assisting travelers and providing information concerning the various WiFi services within the airport, as well as passing out promotional coupons and describing the service directly to passengers and visitors seven days a week during the startup period.
"We value our customers and are aware of, and attentive to, their needs. We’re excited to provide this exceptional capability throughout our terminal facility," stated Raul Regalado, President & CEO of the MNAA. "The Authority continuously strives to provide innovative customer services in the most cost effective and efficient manner."
